I worked at the County Administrative Board of Jämtland County as a Project Advisor and Administrator for an EU Structural Funds program known as Interreg Sweden-Norway, which serves as a tool for regional development.

My work primarily involved reviewing and evaluating project applications and providing guidance to ongoing and prospective projects on application processes and project planning. Projects were assessed based on cross-border added value, results-oriented approaches, lasting effects, and cost-effectiveness. They were then prioritized by a steering committee comprised of politicians from the program region before decisions were made regarding the approval of project applications.

In the evaluation process, I conducted a thorough review of the applications, examining how they described their activities and the structure of their budgets to ensure reasonableness. There were stringent requirements for being aware of the issues and challenges in the project region, as well as for my knowledge in budgeting and financial planning to ensure the project application’s feasibility and reliability. I also assessed projects based on how they would address the horizontal criteria (sustainable development, equal opportunities, and gender equality), with a strong emphasis on projects demonstrating activities that lead to positive improvements in these criteria.

Furthermore, we carefully examined compliance with state aid regulations and that projects met the requirements outlined in the articles. Of course, suitability of the projects within the program’s framework was also a key focus.

At various intervals, our ongoing projects were required to submit progress reports to us for payment requests. It was my responsibility to ensure that the project’s stated goals were being achieved according to the timeline.

In addition, we conducted conferences to inform and educate stakeholders about our program and the opportunities it offered. There were also significant reporting requirements to authorities and politicians.

I also had a role in the development of our management system, NYPS 2020, in collaboration with other public organizations using the program. I also worked on our external communication, including our website and other forms of external communication.
